This
station does not provide a professional weather service, it is a hobby
station which is installed in a domestic garden, however the
Davis Vantage Vue weather station used is a high end consumer weather
station which is certified accurate enough to participate in the
consumer data collection for both Met Office in the UK and NOAA
(National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) in the United States. The station comprises of two main parts as shown above. The outside sensor unit contains all the sensors to measure Temperature, Wind, Rain, Humidity, and Barometric Pressure. It is solar powered with a back up battery and can operate for years with hardly any maintenance. The inside console connects wirelessly to the sensor unit and displays all the weather data. Inside the console is a data logger which stores a complete set of weather data every 15 minutes . However, the real power of this system is in the specialised software, this enables all the data to be downloaded to a PC from where it can be analysed, and if desired displayed on a live bespoke website such as this one. |
